Over the past decade, it became progressively evident that a large number of "complex systems" tend to develop universal patterns previously discovered in spectra of large random matrices. This is true not only for systems that have a physical or a socio-economic origin but also for systems arising in a purely mathematical context. Notable examples of complex systems exhibiting the mysterious convergence to random matrices include spectra of heavy nucleus, quantum chaotic billiards, black holes, financial markets, zeros of L-functions, and more.
The purpose of this workshop is to convene leading researchers from both the mathematics- and physics-oriented parts of the multifaceted random-matrix theory community to discuss the latest developments in the field and identify new challenging problems and directions of research.
The workshop topics include (but are not restricted to)
Integrable systems and Gaussian free fields
Sachdev-Ye-Kitaev matrix model
Many-body quantum chaos
Riemann Zeta function and PT symmetric RMT
Stability of complex systems
Products of random matrices and non-Hermitean RMT
The program will consist of invited and contributed talks, and a poster session. Please navigate
through this website for further information.
The workshop is co-sponsored by The Israel Science Foundation, H.I.T. - Holon Institute of Technology, The Hebrew University of Jerusalem, The University of Haifa, and the International Association of Mathematical Physics.
Previous workshops in the Yad Hashmona series were held in 2009 and 2014.
